E-mail campaign to preserve Ledgeview trails

As most of you will now know, the area known as Ledgeview (formally called McKee Peak) is going to be developed into mostly single family home residential sub-divisions! But don’t fret - there is hope!

The City of Abbotsford has stated that a major “destination” park will be a part of this development, centered around the peak and that at the moment 80 hectares of forested land will remain in total (but not just in the park). What hasn't been determined is the exact configuration of this land and whether or not Mountain Bike trails will be included.

Well, here’s where you come in. The FVMBA believes that bike trails can and should be included in this new park - but we need your help to convince the Mayor and council of this. So, please take five mintutes to send a short, concise and polite e-mail to the mayor and council telling them that you want to see the Ledgeview trails survive in some form when the development is complete. Here are the addresses:

The Mayor

mreeves@abbotsford.ca
mayorsoffice@abbotsford.ca

The Council

bbb1771@shawbiz.ca
efast@abbotsford.ca
simongibson@shaw.ca
moegill@abbotsford.ca
lharris@abbotsford.ca
gpeary@abbotsford.ca
pross@abbotsford.ca

Tell them who you are and why you think the forest should be saved and why mountain bike trails are important. You may want to mention that the city has allowed both an indoor and outdoor BMX track, has built 2 skate parks and pays lots for swimming pools and sports fields but has done NOTHING for mountain biking. MAKE SOME NOISE and save Ledgeview. If you really want to get involved, PM me or e-mail me (Andrew) at rewogar@yahoo.ca.
