Rains wreak havoc on Soft Taco and Lost Oakleys

The heavy rains of this past weekend have taken their toll on the trails in the Clayburn area of Abbotsford. “Soft Taco”, which had been undergoing a facelift, has had a large section of the trail washed out by a mudslide. There is a large chasm running across the trail, and is not safe, even on foot. For safety reasons, the trail is closed until further notice.

On “Lost Oakleys”, the ladder bridge which crosses Clayburn Creek just before the exit has washed out again. We are heading in there this Saturday, March 17 to put it back in place, and do a bit of maintenance on the trail. All who are interested are welcome to lend a hand. We’ll be meeting at the exit of Lost Oakleys at around 10 am.

Soft Taco, has seen lots of work this summer, resulting in a better, slightly easier trail.
The giant washout has been rebuilt with new ladders around this area ,onto the new big bridge.
A new ending has made the trail longer. Cribbing and meshing in the steeep area’s has made this trail a lot better.
NOT a trail for beginner riders or in the WET.

TRAIL RATED –black diamond.

LOST OAKLEY— Entrance off Mckee road,as you go down that greasy section look at water bar to the R. You will notice this trail has a rather ugly bridge over a small ravine. This bridge is really a moto cycle barrier.
Up to the highest point in the trail.
DJ’s - a 4pak small and fun take you onto a small cedar ladder drop to a big kicker 4pak ,which leads you to “pedal2daMedal” A cribbed in booter to 15ft landing table to 8 ish drop. This is a optional line ,do part or all,or none.
Lots of area’s to try your skill, not a trail to be in rainy wet conditions.
Steeep section meshed ,but still not a beginner trail.
ToDo totally meshed, but the wall ride’s like the Twisted Sis, look first..

SUMAS MTN RULE OF THUMB
DH freeride trails West side of gravel road
XC trails E. side
KnobGobbler excellent shape.
New XC trail– EXTRA SAUCE will be simplifying the maze off Holiday Sauce, soon only onto the road for a hundred feet. (Very pretty)
PrePeel open/ Emma Peel reopened through clearcut to DREW’s to exit ,just above parking at gate.
