We’ve got a long list of jobs to tackle on Sumas. Meet at the parking area at the end of Bakstad road (the Time Out exit) at 10 am on Sunday June 3. We’ve got some tools, but feel free to bring whatever you have (shovel, rake, buckets).
This trail day is sponsored by The Bike Brewery in Abbotsford.

The day that most of you thought would never come is around the corner. The first VMBA-backed trail day at the Woodlot is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 10 June 2007.
+ Trail: Giant Killer. The trail is beat and it needs lots of work.
+ No bikes. Please leave your bikes at home — there’ll be plenty of
opportunities to hit stuff another day.
+ Meet at the parking area at the north end of 287th (where you
normally park)at 9:15 for a 9:30am depart time. We expect things to
kick off at 10am at the bottom of the trail and continue until later.
+ Although we’ll have shovels, rakes, and other equipment up there, we’d like people to bring whatever they can to make sure we don’t run out of gear.
+ Refreshments // food will be provided
+ Be prepared to haul rocks and soil

Trail day on Red Mountain!
We’re going to clean out the trails for the XC portion of the upcoming Bear Mountain Challenge in July.
Red Mountain is directly across the street from the Bear Mountain DH course, so those familiar with Bear will know where to park:
Meet at Mill Pond parking lot, 10:00am May 13th.
Sponsored by Wentings Cycle in Mission.

Well a bit of sad news in the saga of Ledgeview…FVMBA Abbotsford rep Andrew G is moving away to Courtenay. He has jumped through countless political hoops with the City of Abbotsford to make the trails on City parkland (the new section of SOB and Lebite me from the tile gap down) official “legal” trails. That new section of SOB would not be there if it weren’t for Andrew’s work. He is making it his mission to make sure we get the official signs in place before he leaves. Thanks very much for all your hard work Andrew!
The good news is one of Abbotsford’s finest trail builders, Trevor O (you’ve seen his work on Lost Oakleys, Soft Taco, and Noah Fear among others) has stepped up to fill Andrew’s shoes as FVMBA Abbotsford rep.
Thanks for everything Andrew!!!

Starting Monday May 14, FVMBA and the Fraser Valley Regional District Parks department will be working on a project to legitimize and spruce up the knobgobbler trail on Sumas Mountain. We will be replacing the bridges and doing groundwork to add some much needed flow to this trail. FVRD will be putting up signage and a staging area below the middle gate (the exit of the trail).
Much of the work will be taking place on weekdays during the day. There will also be guys working up there in the afternoon. If you would like to be a part of this ground-breaking project, send Tom an email at tmackesy@shaw.ca.

Last year, we worked with Chilliwack and managed to get a legal dirt jump park in Sardis. This year, we’ve been working with the City of Abbotsford for a legal dirt jump park.
At the April 27 Abbotsford Parks and Recreation meeting, the concept was given approval in principal. A neighborhood consultation is the next step to go through. If successful, the Jump Park will be built north of MSA arena where Emerson and Peardonville meet.
