Currently:

Snow. Don’ even think about it.

2

Cory — January 26, 2009 @ 9:48 am

I second that. Haven’t tried Red, but Bear isn’t doable.

3

Tom — February 11, 2009 @ 9:02 pm

Still a ton of snow at the pond parking lot.

Feb.14 Thought I would mention that the trails above Heritage Park in Mission are in great shape.
Someone went in and bucked up most of the deadfall. Thanks if it was FVMBA.
As I ride those trails often I was wondering if FVMBA helps to maintain these trails. If so I would like to help out.

Thanks
Bruce

Cory — February 25, 2009 @ 12:00 pm

It’s snowing on Bear again today. Nice.

Mar.24/09 Bear is in great condition right now even after all the rain and snow. Bigguns is good to. Jolly Rancher still has snow up in the clear cut at the top but fine in the lower parts once back into the trees. Not sure about Red but will hike it this week to see how it is and advise.

What are conditions like at Red? Snow? If so, at what level is it clear? Thanks.

9

Tom — April 7, 2009 @ 6:56 pm

On Saturday April 3 the snow line on Red was half way down Big Red. A foot and a half at the top and a hike-a-bike from below Arduum.

As far as Heritage Park goes, FVMBA does not maintain those trails. If you stop into Wentings Cycle in Mission they can likely put you in contact with the individual(s) who do. And aside from a few muddy sections, the trails are clear and a fun XC rip.

Tom — April 17, 2009 @ 6:05 pm

April 16 - Still a bit of snow at the top of the climb on Red but the XC trails are free of snow and debris.

How are trail conditions in the Valley? Vedder is all clear and really nice right now.

-Bear and Red?
-Sumas?
-Woodlot?
-Fromme?
-Seymour?
-Cypress?

Just wondering how the snow levels were and if the trails were rideable?
Vedder is dry right now, all the trails are in great condition. I heard that even the Den is clear of snow. Don’t forget to come out to the cleanup next weekend.

Red’s in great shape. Tiny bit of snow on the way up to the top, but none on the trail. Some standing water, but otherwise great - Thanks to Tom for raking!!!

13

Tom — April 20, 2009 @ 3:48 pm

You’re welcome…lots more to come!

As far as Sumas goes…I hear Time Killer, Devil’s Throat, World Cup and Time Out are rideable. Knob Gobbler and Holiday Sauce still have snow on them.

14

Dwayne — April 27, 2009 @ 3:32 pm

Rode Knob Gobbler on Friday. Still some snow at the very start, but should be gone in very short order. There’s quite a bit of blowdown in sections - had to spend a bit of time clearing large branches off the trail. Other than that it’s looking great.

Back side trails were in great shape on Saturday (before Monday’s rain). Watch for bees below the corral. Three of us got stung.

16

Todd — August 10, 2009 @ 1:11 pm

sumas on Sunday was wicked !! The rain will only make it better !

New entrance bridge on NoahFear going in today (wed)
bridge party if anyone is interested in helping.
g

NF entrance is just below the old cut up yellow gate w. side

Steve — November 11, 2009 @ 10:52 am

Interestingly, Noah Fear is on Sumas, not Bear, nor Red.

20

Tom — November 11, 2009 @ 4:19 pm

Red XC trails - sections of Red Rider and most of Big Red are underwater. The rest of the trails are extremely soft. Please ride elsewhere for now. Or…bring out your leaf rake and help clear the trails.

Gary Harder — November 12, 2009 @ 9:50 am

NoahFear bridge is done!!
Big thanks to the Trev and Kim,Kerry they worked their butts off.

Isn’t Noah Fear on Sumas?

23

Doug — November 15, 2009 @ 9:21 am

Nice work, Gary! Finally, the entrance to Noah Fear is all rideable! Sorry I couldn’t make it out to help, I was Mr. Mom for the day!

Big Sumas awaits us today! We are riding the Sauces and the Peels. Anyone interested in joining, we’ll meet at the lower gate at high noon! Woot! Rain be damned!

PS. Tom, we will do what maintenance we can to offset the wet riding conditions.

Dec 6 and just came from Bear Mtn. and there are some BIG trees down near the top and about a 1/3 the way down. Will clear some this week and maybe use a couple of them to go over as well….. we’ll see when I get back there. Jolly Rancher clear.

Anyone been up Red lately? Is there snow still? Is it at all ridable? Thanks in advance for the reply!

Rick — December 21, 2009 @ 7:31 am

I was up red on the 8th and it was all good!

Gary Harder — December 26, 2009 @ 6:05 pm

Boxing Day Sumas.
Rode with a lot of great guys today, atop at the lookout ,where the clear day gave us a stellar view. Riding down from the KnobGobbler we weren’t into the trail very far when down I went and to the laughter of Deano. Laying upside down testing out my new Kail-protectives helmut ,it was all good.
Big thankyou to Polly,Deano,Chris,Steve,Todd ,Trev,my son Jer.
We ended up taking Sideshow out to the TimeKiller which was in fine shape.
The sun was shining up a storm and sitting at the cabin, till we ripped her out to the Bakstad parking lot,it was one of those days to be remembered.
Everybody was smiling at the exit, laughing.
This is why I ride,I love the bike, but really it’s more, today again I knew what it was.

March 19 2010 - There has been a rash of vehicle breakins at both Bear Mountain and the Woodlot in recent weeks.

34

colin — April 23, 2010 @ 3:59 pm

Hey, could someone help me out. I really want to ride Arduum on red mountain but i have no clue where the trail is. I no where Bear Mountain is and ride it a lot and i no that arduum is right across the street but do i hike up into the gun range?

35

Tom — April 23, 2010 @ 9:39 pm

DO NOT GO UP INTO THE GUN RANGE. There is a bypass trail south of the gun club driveway. There’s concrete barriers and a sign, you can’t miss it. http://gutsploder.net/maps/red%20mt.htm
