Did anyone go to the Vicarro Ranch presentation? Please contact me via email as I couldn't make it but am a local resident and really want more information. There were no other contact details for someone to contact on the info sheet - hence my google search brought me here. Thanks so much!!

For those of you who weren't at the AGM, here (finally) is what went down:

This AGM was a resounding success. Great turn out, great discussion, great ideas!

30 people were in attendance, including last year’s exec, current members, non-members, and representatives from the City of Abbotsford, a local bike shop, and another Biking Association.

Representatives of the Abbotsford Sports Council gave us a short presentation on their mandate, and reasons why FVMBA should participate.

Greg (2009 President) presented a short synopsis of the year’s activities, financial status & membership status.

The Floor was then opened for discussion on the question of: As a member, what would they like to get out of FVMBA and/or What would they like FVMBA to do?
Several great ideas were put forth, including
Group rides
‘Fun’ events.
Maps
More trails!!!!
Working with other organizations.
Improved Web page.
Memberships/Bike shops.
Skills park/ Bike jumps.

All of these ideas will be discussed and put into action where possible by the exec at forthcoming meetings.

The existing Executive team was then disbanded and a new exec was nominated and voted in. Along with this, new positions were created and filled. Making up the Fraser Valley Mountain Bikers Exec Team this year is:
President: Greg Rector
Vice President: Tom MacKesy
Secretary: Steve Rosset
Treasurer: Maria Dyment
Grant Applications: Doug Mossey (New position)
Public Relations: Dwayne Friesen, Fernan Mendoza (New position)
Quartermaster: Kim Knowles (New position)
Trails Director: Collin Burke (New position)
Web Design/Manager: Dean Wilkes (New position)
Membership coordinator, Steve Rosset, (New position)

Maple Ridge Reps: Dean Wilkes, Richard Albertson
Mission Reps: Todd Earnshaw, Tom MacKesy, Dean Wilkes
Chilliwack Reps: Todd Hovde, Andrew Carmichael
Abbotsford Reps: Trevor Ostendorf, Kim Knowles, Matt Scott, Doug Mossey

Thanks to everyone for attending, and especially THANKS to those that have volunteered for 2010.
It’s going to be a good year.

Matt, I got the info from John Smith - city councillor. I was given the impression that the developer would be on hand to present their proposals for usage. I will try and find out more.

Chadsey Lake trail
(Centennial Trail) seen a lot of work to cut out the newest blowdown.
From Bakstad exit to Chadsey Lake the trail is now clear.
With the beauty weather the Kerry man and I with chainsaws in tow, worked hard to clear this sweet trail . This year this trail has seen a lot of work from us .
Not recommended to be ridden till it dries out, as the wet roots and exposure in places not to mention ,the countless turns makes this gem a fair weather trail.
The Trev and Kim were working on fixing up parts of the newly redone NoahFear as well .
TimeKiller the KnobGobbler and all the XC trails,Sumas is rocking !
Can you believe this weather!

INDOOR REOPENS TODAY
MountainBikers it's tues Jan 19--till FEB 9th --- 4X starts tonight,and continues all month

Dwayne, do you know the extent of what will be discussed at the developer’s info session for Vicarro Ranch? Is it for other developers who are looking at residention building on Ledgeview and obtaining City zoneing permitts or is it mainly regarding how the land is presently being used?

Nobody is doubting your skills Bawb. I bet there's lots of people who think Momentum is "too technical" and would like to see it changed to make it "flowier". Lots of us love it just the way it is.

There are lots of easier trails on both Red and Bear Mountains that suit "less extreme" riders. Just as there is a need for easy trails, there is a need for difficult trails to remain difficult.

Hi Bawb.

There is ongoing work happening on Arduum to improve it. The dh race course will continue to be worked on throughout the spring. The new race directors and builders have talked to CyclingBC about the new expectations. My understanding is that the course will be 'dummied up' but at the same time maintain a level of difficulty expected by the original builders, directors and the racers alike. Please do not do any unauthorized building on it. If you would like to get involved, I can contact the current builder/maintenance guy and see if he would like help.
