Olympic Torchbearer Sumas Clean Up

Come out and join us on March 7 and help to beautify Sumas Mountain by cleaning up the garbage!

My name is Doug Mossey and I had the honour of carrying the Olympic Torch on February 8, 2010.  My application to join the Olympic Torch Relay included a pledge to somehow better Canada.  I chose to organize a community event to clean up our much-loved Sumas Mountain!

So mark your calendar and come on out anytime between 10am and 4pm and let’s make a real difference to our local environment!

If you have a 4X4 or a large truck to offer, please email me at duga@lycos.com.

Meet at the Time Killer Exit (TimeOut) parking lot, which is at the end of Bakstad Road.

Wow, what a great sounding event! I ride up there all the time, so this is my opportunity to give a little back to Sumas Mountain! (Wink Wink!)

FYI, I have decided to re-schedule the Olympic Torchbearer Sumas Clean Up event for the following Sunday, March 7. I did not realize that the Gold Medal Hockey Game is on February 28. I think I could have expected to lose two out of three potential volunteers if I were to maintain the original date!

Thanks to everyone who has committed to Feb 28, I hope you are still available on March 7! Woo hoo!

Riders, those who live and ride in other area’s like the Wack and Woodlot, and who aren’t in to traveling.
Why not make Mar. 7 next Sunday a clean up in your area.
Looking at all the rider traffic we get in our local mountains and area’s like Abby’s Ledgeview.
Lets show the love, get her done.
We can do,grab a garbage bag or take a bigger pack and pack it out.

Well said, Gary! Let’s expand this Clean Up Day to encompass all of our riding areas, whether it be a group or solo effort.

Anyone who needs garbage bags, let me know. The Province has donated two huge rolls for our Sumas Clean Up and I now have much more than enough. Drop me a line at duga@lycos.com and I’ll make them available to you.

Let’s take pride in our country! Go Canada Go!

Good to see you guys again on Centennial today, and many thanks for all your work on Centennial and Time Killer and all the other trails where I walk my dog pack. Would have loved to come out this Sunday, but just got a new Sunday job. Keep posting, and I’ll keep checking for upcoming cleanup days, if I can…. I’ll be there.

See you on the trails…..

Holy crap.
STeve a new pix on our website,no more manboobs!!!

The Kerry man and myself had the day off and put in another big day on Chadsey Lake .
It now sports two new boardwalk bridges on the north end of the lake.
What a great turnout with a lot of garbage taken off Sumas Mtn.
Thanks to all the executives which turned up , Crazy Man Doug Mossey for organizing it.
as well as Doug Wilson of Fvrd and the city of Abbotsford . To all the mtn bikers ,big karma points to you all.

Right on, Gary! The day was a real success. I’m guessing we took nearly a tonne of garbage off of the mountain! Also, I think people are less likely to litter in an already clean area, so let’s hope our efforts will have a lasting effect.

Huge thanks to everyone who came to help! I can’t tell you all how much I appreciate your sacrifice of time and effort. Cheers!
