Sunday April 25, 2010 will see VMTA in conjunction with Fraser Valley Mountain Bikers Association and a very committed core of the local mountain bike community come together to host the 10th annual day of love for our playground.
We have been doing this event for a long time and every year sees more folks pitching inĀ said VMTA Director and Treasurer Dr. Mark Steinebach. VMTA representing the interests of Fraser Valley Mountain Bike Association, Back Country Horseman of BC, Vedder Running Club, Chilliwack Outdoor Club and Cascade Offroad Motorcycle Club on Vedder Mountain coordinated the efforts of nearly 100
volunteers last year and was able to clear some 7 metric tonnes of illegally dumped garbage and recyclables as well as contribute about 100 hours or labour to help reroute the entry to the much loved MongoLloyd trail. We want this year to be a milestone because it’s a pretty special anniversary said Steinebach. We would like to see if we can get 150 people out this year. As in past years, there will be a ton of free swag to give away at the end of the day and as always a great, free lunch which this year will include an awesome roast pork barbeque.
As with last year, all those in attendance will have an opportunity to purchase their annual VMTA membership and Member Decal at a sweet 50% discount ($10 instead of the normal $20). We were delighted to have over 40 people take advantage of this great deal last year stated Steinebach. The member fees help us (VMTA) to help all riders by working to establish and legalize our trails, so we really appreciate the help and are happy to give this deal to those helping out on trail day.
