Wenting’s Cycle Shop

Adopted Trail: Lorax | Bear Mountain, Mission

Wentings Cycle and Mountain Shop truly has a passion for the sport of biking. Everything they do, for business purposes or through charity work, they seek to build a community of riders. Whether that is equipping experienced riders or encouraging new ones to join in on the fun, Wentings Cycle and Mountain Shop is a family run business looking to extend the family of bikers to more members in the community, “We would like to reach the new trail users in Mission and let them know that we are a local company with lots of experience here to help them on all their adventures. We want to get as many people as possible riding bikes! We like to build a community of people who like to get out and have fun,” says Kathleen Wenting, Manager.
Wentings Cycle and Mountain Shop is part of the fabric of the community in Mission, BC. Having started their business over 40 years ago, and being one of the first mountain bike dealers in Canada, they have developed deep roots in the community. Part of this is due to their support of local trails. Their mission to get people biking extends from outside the walls of their shop and into the vast beautiful vistas of the surrounding BC trails. To date, they have worked for many years supporting the road and youth cycling group, Phoenix Velo as well as providing volunteer technical support for local charity rides and other cycling events.

Now, Wentings Cycle and Mountain Shop has teamed up with the FVMBA as a sponsor of Lorax on Bear Mountain. Wentings Cycle and Mountain Shop understands that these trails provide the community with a place to hone their skills as a rider, become physically fit, or simply gather to enjoy and have fun. Thanks to the generous support of Wentings Cycle and Mountain Shop, Lorax trail can be maintained and kept open for all in the community, “There’s no such thing as a trail fairy! Someone must do the work, and the FVMBA volunteers and staff are the ones who have stepped up in a huge way. The work these great people are doing deserves our support,” Kathleen says.

The reasons for Westings Cycle and Mountain Shop decision to support the FVMBA were easy, “there is such a wonderfully diverse bunch of trail users in our area. The FVMBA pulls all of us together and gives us a voice to help maintain, protect, and expand our trail networks. They also provide an invaluable resource for anyone looking to find clinics, group rides, races, and more,” says Kathleen. Wentings Cycle and Mountain Shop simply put wants to support you, our community, and build a big happy family of bikers.
