On March 2nd, the FVMBA held its Annual General Meeting for the year of 2020 in accordance with requirements of the BC Societies Act.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on Zoom, we definitely missed seeing everyone in person and all of the post-meeting trail banter. If you missed the live Zoom meeting, you can catch up on all that we shared here:
First, a heart-felt thank you to Julie Henderson for her leadership as FVMBA President during a difficult year. Julie spearheaded many projects including behind-the-scenes advocacy to make the new pump track in Chilliwack (which officially opened last month) a reality. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, go! What a great addition to the community. Thank you for your dedication to the trails and to the community, Julie, we’ll miss you!
2020 posed a number of challenges for the FVMBA. With the cancellation of the Vedder Classic due to COVID, we lost not just a great community event, but also a significant source of revenue for the organization. However, the combination of your support through membership, steadfast contributions from sponsors and partners, donations, and several successful grant applications, helped the FVMBA accomplish a variety of trail renewal and maintenance projects in 2020, including hiring our first ever Seasonal Trail Crew (click here to read about what they accomplished in 2020).
With three Board Members stepping down at the end of their terms or for other reasons, and three community members stepping up, there was no need for elections this year. A warm welcome to new Board Members, Chris Hennessey, Yoshia Burton, and Clint Gray! Thank you for offering your time and energy to help serve our community.
Thanks to all those who attended the AGM and to you for your support of the FVMBA.
