FVMBA’s Director of Technology is looking forward to training new riders in 2021

By: Wes Macaulay
FVMBA Director of Technology, MTB Instructor PMBIA

As a director of technology for the board, I’ve enjoyed helping the FVMBA plan trails for the future this past year.  Working with mapping / GIS, GPS and scouting new trails is exciting work!  I’ve also been equipping the association with project management tools to help us keep track of work we need to get done: maintaining our trails, and planning for upgrades.  Mountain biking grew significantly in 2020, and the sport has a bright future.  That’s awesome – there are few activities that will get you into shape faster than MTB, and have as much fun doing it.  I’m excited about families getting into mountain biking, and to that end, I completed the Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association training program so I can train new riders: something I look forward to doing in 2021.  During the day I instruct at UFV Chilliwack, and get to ride Vedder a couple of times a week during the school year.  Keep an eye out for a graying goatee riding a dark gray Norco Range!

Wes and his son, Graham, also “dabble” in a little trail work here and there [extremely sarcastic emoji]
