It’s been a challenging couple of weeks for our Fraser Valley community and other areas of BC damaged by the recent floods and storms. Our hearts go out to all affected.
While many of the trails and networks that we care for held up well or only experienced minor damage from the storms, some areas were hit harder. For the most up-to-date trail conditions, the best source is Trailforks. We are also working hard to ensure our website, Facebook, and Instagram are updated as soon as possible too. If you are out on the trails, and see an issue, please let us know by posting a trail report on Trailforks. Not sure how to make a trail report? Check out this helpful tutorial from Trailforks. Reports are most helpful when made on the trail at the location of the issue, as Trailforks will log the location and pinpoint it on the map. Uploading a photo to your report, along with describing the issue is also key for for letting volunteers know the scope of the problem, potential tools and muscle power needed to fix it. For downed trees, providing an approximate diameter, tells us if a chainsaw is needed or if a handsaw will do the trick. Thank you to everyone who has made reports!
There are presently three major issues where we’ve closed trails or sections of trails; details below. We’ll update on progress of repairs as we are able. Some additional trail updates are highlighted in the slide show below. Thanks again to all of the volunteers who work hard to clear trees and repair trails to keep them safe for all in our community.
