Curious about what goes into building and caring for the trails? Looking to give back to the trails you enjoy? Or want to learn what enables a trail stand up to weather and high use? Join us to learn about caring for the trails and the environment! The FVMBA is hosting a series of Trail Building & Maintenance workshops; each course runs from 8:30 AM to 4 PM, with a morning classroom session & an afternoon of on-trail instruction.

While participants in the FVMBA Trail Steward Mentorship program are given priority access to registration, the workshops are open to all.


Trail Care Essentials

An introduction to trail stewardship, covering the key principles of sustainable trail design and best practices for trail maintenance and repair.

Bridges & Boardwalks

The West Coast of BC is famous for its stunts: ladder bridges, skinnies, drops and more. This course covers the design principles, trail standards, construction techniques, and assessment of wood technical trail features.

Rock Work

Properly constructed rock work will outlast wood bridges, and perhaps even us. Learn how to use rock to armor the trail surface, build rock retaining walls, and other ways rock is beneficial in trail design & maintenance.
