Volunteers are the heart of the FVMBA, working hard to build our community, whether it’s trail work, social rides, advocating with land managers, building relationships with First Nations and much more. We thank all of the volunteers who generously give of their time and experience and skills and hard work. While trail work has slowed the past month due to the dry weather and higher fire hazard, many FVMBA volunteers were busy earlier in the year. At the Woodlot, work on Platinum and Toadstool and other trails is ongoing. Thank you to Ryan W for the cedar trail art and scuplted dirt, and thank you to Ryan D & Eugene for the trail transformation underway on Toadstool. Reminder that if you see trail signage for work in progress to respect the builders’ wishes and walk through work areas or choose a different trail if the section is closed. In Chilliwack, thank you to Kerry Frayne who took advantage of the rain and brief drop in fire hazard to clear some deadfall at Vedder plus clearing the Lakeview alternative line on Dilemma, say hi if you see him out on the trails!

Volunteering isn’t just for trail work though. We’ve seen our social rides grow this year, and it wouldn’t be possible for these to run without the dedication of Lee Hughes coordinating behind the scenes along with many others who’ve helped prep the trails, plan the routes, lead rides, organize BBQs and after parties, and lots of other logistics. Thank you to Rod, Lisa, Pawel, Lori, Amber, Bobby, Rocky, Stephanie, Sean, Adam, Meghan, Hamish, and many more (sorry, we know we’ve missed a few).
